Clambake anyone?

Lately I've had clam shells on my mind...

 

I recently did a post about my affection for these shells on La Dolfina, so naturally it would make me think of the classic Summer clam bake!

In keeping with the spirit of the day, look what I found while out treasure hunting yesterday.

A  Giant Brass Clam Shell!

 (It is vintage,  solid brass,  and extremely heavy weighing in at 5.3 lbs.)

(It measures approx. 9.5" in diameter and sits about 2" high)
