I found the sweetest treasure last week.
It is antimony which are mixed metals made to look like bronze. It is a very solid, well made, wood lined trinket box which has a lovely pressed design all over. The wood shows through the pressed panels on all 4 sides.
It measures approx. 4 1/4" X 3 1/2" X 2"
It is stamped Made in Occupied Japan which dates it to the 1940's, after WWII.
The interior is lined in wood.
The top is not hinged, it lifts off.
It's quite heavy with beautiful detailing and patina.
It's the perfect trinket box for those who collect butterfly specimens.
